BELGIAN SUPER HONED BLUESTONE
Belgian Super Honed Bluestone was originally limestone which had been changed through time by heat and pressure. These materials, which were initially formed under water as unconsolidated sediments by chemical precipitation and living creatures, have been buried, heated, and subjected to enormous confining pressures over long periods of time. Metamorphism has turned the limestone into a denser, harder crystalline rock.
Although greatly changed, relic characteristics of the original limestone can be maintained. Furthermore, selected partial melting can cause liquids and other volatiles to migrate through the fabric of the marble, changing its composition and structure and giving rise to some remarkable characteristics.
